Subject: Minimum Tugs Operation
Requirements for Berthing
and Departure of Vessels at
Khalifa Port
To: Marine Service Provide
(Safeen), Ships Masters,
Port Users , Vessels' Agents
and Terminal Operators
This direction has been issued with aim to ensure
safety of navigation, and to ensure sufficient
standards in the port operations in response to risks
and prevent marine incidents during vessels
movement within Khalifa Port limits.
This is the minimum Tug requirements for all
calling vessels to Khalifa port limit are detailed in
the table below:

Notes:
1. Cape size and ultra large container vessels
with LOA above 368 meters - Tugs will
escort the above calling vessels from/or to KP
buoy 08 I 10 of main channel.
2. The above requirements are based on normal
weather and environmental conditions (winds,
including forecast winds, of up to 20 knots).
The Pilot and/ or Master can request more tugs
assistance for safe pilotage (Pilot I Master
Discretion) and during periods of adverse
weather.
3. Due to considerable variations in vessel size,
shape, condition and degree of capability,
certain vessel movements are not adequately
covered in above table. They will be subject to
H M decision.

4. The above are the minimum requirements for
safe maneuvering, berthing and/or un-berthing
of the vessels within the Port l imits. Any
deviation from those requires Harbour Master
approval.
This direction cancels Harbour Master Direction
06/2012.
Your compliance with the above is requested with
immediate effect.
