The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) is a government body
established in 1996, committed to protecting theTerrestrial and Marine
Biodiversity and enhancing the quality of Abu Dhabi Emirates
environment through strategic partnerships with the public and private
sectors on both local and international levels. Furthermore, the EAD
adopts the best international and local practices, encourages innovation
and hard work towards applying preventive measures and effective
policies to ensure protecting the environment. The EAD seeks to promote
environmental awareness and sustainable development and to ensure the
continued inclusion of environmental issues among the most important
priorities in the national agenda.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the top management’s commitment
to implement all requirement to protect environment at all EAD facilities,
sites, and natural resources to provide clear internal direction for
environmental policy management. Furthermore, The environmental
policy represents EAD’s commitment to pro-actively target no damage to
the environment and EAD assets.
Framework
The framework for implementing the environment management system in
the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi complies with the international
standard ISO 14001:2015. The framework of this policy is based on
determining the levels of risks included in the established and approved
internal risk assessment methodology.
Scope
This policy applies to all EAD assets and activities at all ficilties and sites.
Our Policy and Commitment
We commite to care and implement the following principles:
• Recognizing that environmental accidents that could result of EAD
activities can be avoided through effective implementation of the
Environmental Management System, which aims to encourage all staff to
report any work or activities that do not comply with the standards of the
Environmental Management System.
• Extending a “Duty of Care” to environment through the protection of
natural resources and applying the best environmental practices leading in
environmental sustainability, and the implementation of EAD activities in
full accordance with its main tasks and environmental commitment.

• Complying with all local, federal, and international environmental legal requirements to
which EAD subscribes to, in order to conserve the environment.
• Highlighting risks related to EAD’s activities and setting effective procedures and
programs to eliminate them and prevent the environmental incident at all EAD sites.
• Providing a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets
and providing adequate resources to meeting those objectives.
• Assigning responsibilities that related to environment management to the employees in
order to ensure the effective implementation of the procedures related to environment
protection and conservation.
• Raising the efficiency of cadres and capacity building by providing specialized training ,
drills and awareness programs in aspects related to the environmental management
system.
• Promoting level of awareness of employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders
through providing environmetal awareness programs that participate to preserve the
environment at EAD facilities and external sites.
• Ensuring consultation and participation of EAD workers and contractors in regard to
environmental aspects.
• Documenting, implementing, periodically reviewing and continually improving our
Integrated Management System in a nature that is appropriate to the scale and impact
of EAD activities.
• Participating and disseminating this policy to all employees and stakeholders through
various available channels, and revieweing it periodically through management review
process.
