The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) is a government body
established in 1996, committed to protecting the Terrestrial and Marine
Biodiversity and enhancing the quality of Abu Dhabi Emirates
environment through strategic partnerships with the public and private
sectors on both local and international levels. Furthermore, the EAD
adopts the best international and local practices, encourages innovation
and hard work towards applying preventive measures and effective
policies to ensure protecting the environment. The EAD seeks to
promote environmental awareness and sustainable development and to
ensure the continued inclusion of environmental issues among the most
important priorities in the national agenda .
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the top management’s commitment
to provide healthy and safe workplace and to provide clear internal
direction for the Occupational Health and Safety policy implementation in
the work environment at all EAD facilities and sites. Furthermore, The
OHS policy represents EAD’s commitment to proactively target no
accidents, no harm to people and no damage to EAD assets, along with all
EAD activities.
Framework
The framework for implementing the Occupational Safety and Health
System in the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi complies with both the
Occupational Safety, and Health Management System at the Emirate of
Abu Dhabi and the international standard ISO 45001:2018. The
framework of this policy is based on determining the levels of risks
included in the approved Enterprise Risk Management Methodology.
Scope
This policy applies to all EAD employees, contractors, and visitors, as well
as all EAD assets, operations and activities.

• Recognizing that accidents can be avoided through the effective
management of occupational health and safety systems, which aims to
encourage the reporting of incidents and non-confirmity cases that do not
meet the Occupational Health and Safety standards.

• Extending a “Duty of Care” to all its employees through the provision of a safe workplace
and the provision of adequate and appropriate OHS resources.
• Complying with all relevant OHS legal requirements, and the requirements of the Abu
Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System, as well as, relevant local and federal legal
requirements.
• Maintaining the health and safety of EAD staff, contractors, services providers and
visitors, as well as, offering a working environment that meets the highest
ocuupational health and safety standards.
• Highlighting risks related to EAD’s activities and setting effective procedures and
programs to eliminate them, preventing injuries and illnesses relevant to OHS, and
enhenace the well being of EAD workers, contractors and visitors, with follow up on
the implementation of activities within the requirements of occupational safety and
health system.
• Providing frameworks for setting and reviewing OHS objectives and performance
indicators with providing adequate resources to achieve those objectives.
• Assigning responsibilities to staff regarding occupational health and safety objectives.
• Raising the efficiency and capacity building of cadres by providing specialized training,
drills and awareness programs of occupational health and safety
• Promoting awareness level of employees, contractors, visitors and stakeholders through
providing occupational health and safety awareness programs that participate to protect
their health and safety at all EAD facilities and sites.
• Ensuring consultation and participation of EAD employees and contractors about OHS
aspects.
• Documenting, implementing, periodically reviewing and continually improving our
Occupational Health and Safety System in a manner that is appropriate to the scale and
impact of our activities.
• Participating and disseminating this policy to all employees and stakeholders through
various available channels, and revieweing it periodically through management review
process.
