Article 1 — In the implementation of the provisions of this Law, the following words and

phrases shall have the meanings corresponding thereto, unless the context
requires otherwise:
Emirate : The Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Department : The Department of Culture and Tourism.
Alcoholic
Beverages
: The beverages that contain at least 0.05% of alcohol.

Alcoholic
Beverages Activity
: The activities related to the trade, circulation,
possession and manufacture of Alcoholic Beverages
as determined by the Department.

Article 2 — The Alcoholic Beverages Activity shall be considered among the tourist

activities falling under the tourism sector in the Emirate and regulated by the
Department, including the free zones.

Article 3 — The applicable policies, rules, regulations, resolutions and circulars shall

remain effective in a manner that does not contradict the provisions of this
Law until the issuance of the policies, rules, regulations, resolutions and
circulars implementing its provisions.

Article 4 — • The aforesaid Law No. (8) of 1976 shall be repealed.

• Any provision or text that is contrary to the provisions of this Law shall be
repealed.

Article 5 — This Law shall be effective from the date of its issuance and published in the

Official Gazette.
