3. Introduction
The Mohammed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence is committed to implementing and maintaining
an environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management system that continually improves effectiveness and
performance, providing EHS services that meet the requirements of our students, employees, stakeholders,
applicable standards, and complies with all legal and regulatory requirements of Abu Dhabi Government. We
shall plan and implement actions to address risks and opportunities to establish a basis for increasing the
effectiveness of the EHS management system, achieving improved results, and preventing negative effects.
4. Objective
This policy aims to:
Allow all stakeholders to understand the organization and its context, determining internal and
external factors, both positive and negative, relevant to its purpose and strategic direction that affect
its ability to achieve the intended results of the EHS management system.
5. Scope
This Policy applies to all functional areas (divisions, departments, sections, units) including their designated
staff and related committees within MBZUAI.
6. EHS Policy
6.1. EHS Scope and Responsibilities
6.1.1.MBZUAI is committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students and a safe working
environment for all MBZUAI community. This will be achieved by
• Identifying and assessing the risks and hazards associated with Occupational Health, Safety
(OSH) and Environmental aspects in the workplace, and taking action to prevent, reduce or
control it to an acceptable level and leveraging opportunities to the advantage of all
stakeholders.
• Establishing, reviewing, and reporting on EHS performance, measured against objectives and
targets in line with this policy.
• Promoting ecological sustainability practices.
• Promoting process approach and ensuring that identifying and managing risk and
opportunity is an integral part of strategic planning and business process management.
• Providing adequate resources to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve
the EHS Management System.

6.1.2.While health, safety, and the environment are the responsibility of all stakeholders, the EHS Unit
is primarily accountabe for the effectiveness of the EHS management system. As such, the EHS
Unit will
• Regularly review and communicate this policy to personnel at all levels within the
organization, the members of the public and other interested parties on request.
• Enhance the competency of our students and employees through knowledge sharing,
training, and motivation.
• Periodically verify the compliance of the EHS system with legal requirements and
conformance to applicable international best practice standards.
